The 40-year-old German pianist Michael Wollny is unquestionably one of the most important jazz musicians of his generation. An eclectic artist, his sources of inspiration range from Franz Schubert to Gustav Mahler, Byörk and Kraftwerk, besides – obviously – the jazz giants. His interpretations often hark back to European musical tradition, and he has willingly tackled classical works from composers like Bach, Schubert, or Debussy, in prestigious Germany institutions.
He has spent a lot of time with well-known musicians such as Michel Portal, Peter Erskine, and Pat Metheny, where his talent comes through clearly, and now plays in trio with the bass player Christian Weber and drummer Eric Schaefer.

In collaboration with

Regina Palace Hotel

Overlooking the shores of Lake Maggiore, in the centre of Stresa and directly facing the Borromean Islands, the Regina Palace Hotel represents a fine example of prestige both in the hotel world and historically speaking. The four-star Regina Palace hotel that opened in 1908, still preserves its fin de siècle fascination, even though it has a renewed appearance as a result of a meticulous, albeit conservative refurbishment programme. The unique combination of charm and modernity will render a stay in one of the 214 rooms or suites – all furnished with period pieces and equipped with every facility – totally unforgettable.
