W.A. MOZART, Concerto for piano and orchestra, K. 503 I. STRAVINSKIJ, Pulcinella (integral)
Composed between 1919 and 1920, Stravinsky’s Pulcinella, a “ballet with singing”, is usually ascribed to the Russian composer’s neoclassical period. Inspired by themes attributed at the time to Pergolesi, the composer employs his exceptional talent for orchestration to re-elaborate the 18th century musical language, blending it together with his own colors and rich rhythms. Tonight’s cast does him proud: Frittoli, Marsiglia, Ulivieri, with Gianandrea Noseda conducting the Orquesta de Cadaques are the highlights of this very special evening.
To complete it the outstanding French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard will play Mozart’s Piano concerto in C major, no. 25 KV 503. Dated 1786, this is one of the Salzburg genius’s best-known concertos, highlighting to the full on the virtuosism of the soloist and the interaction between piano and orchestra.
This concert is part of the thematic area Between Classic and Neoclassic.
