Yesterday, September 2 big success for Idomeneo and its protagonists (Francesco Meli, Laura Polverelli, Alessandra Marianelli, Francesca Sassu and Alessandro Liberatore, the Stresa Festival Orchestra, Ars Cantica Choir and Gianandrea Noseda).
Today, Friday, September 3, at the Tapestry Hall on Isola Bella the great Polish pianist Piotr Anderszewski will perform works by Bach, Schumann and Beethoven.
Special boat leaves Stresa at 8.00 p.m.; ticket price is € 50 (one sector) including return fare.
Yesterday Saturday September 4 at 8.00 p.m. closing concert for the Lyric Singing Academy Giovani all’Opera held by Natale De Carolis. The selected singers will perform the complete semi-staged version of Cimarosa's Il matrimonio segreto, with the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana conducted by Andrea Battistoni.
The concert is at free entrance, by reservation of the seat.
On Sunday, September 5 the Stresa Festival Orchestra conducted by Gianandrea Noseda will close the Stresa Festival 2010 performing the Symphony “The new world” by Dvořák and Shostakovich's Violin concert no. 1, with the great Greek violin player Leonidas Kavakos.

The great Orchestras of the 2010 Festival |
The Sydney Symphony conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy inaugurated on Sunday the 49th edition of Stresa Festival, first event of its European tour. The orchestra’s full ensemble of 102 musicians is performing eight concerts over two weeks at festivals including the BBC Proms in London, Edinburgh International Festival, Lucerne Festival and Grafenegg Music Festival in Austria as well as at the prestigious Concertgebouw Hall in Amsterdam.
The European Union Youth Orchestra, conducted by our Artistic Director Gianandrea Noseda, closed on Friday, August 27, at Stresa Congress Hall its ten-days European tour, which touched Poland, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.
The Cleveland Orchestra with its Musical Director Franz Welser-Möst ended on Sunday, August 29, its tour around Europe: it performed in Grafenegg, Merano and Lucerne before arriving at the Congress Hall.

On Monday August 23, the lyric singing masterclass Giovani all'Opera held by the bass-baritone Natale De Carolis and organized by 2010 Stresa Music Academy began.
The forty applications arrived from all over the world: Europe, America, Japan and Korea, besides Italy, of course.
After the auditions, the roles were chosen, who will prepare the complete semi-staged version of Cimarosa's Il matrimonio segreto during the Masterclass.
Carolina will be Arianna Vendittelli, Elisetta will be performed by Damiana Mizzi and Fidalma by Giuseppina Bridelli. As for the male voices, Matteo Falcier will be Paolino, the Korean Simon Lim will interpret Robinson and Marco Filippo Romano Geronimo.
The opera will be on stage at Stresa Congress Hall on September 4 with the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana conducted by Andrea Battistoni.

Window dressing competition 2010 |

The second edition of the competition for musical Window dressing began Sunday August 1 and officially ended yesterday, Monday August 30, organized by the Stresa Festival, in collaboration with the newspaper La Stampa and with the "Pro Loco" of Stresa.
For the whole month of August La Stampa printed a coupon with which the readers voted the preferred shop window.
We will give a prize to the five most-voted shop windows. Moreover, a special jury will award the best shop window.
