Noseda The recent debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra has definitely positioned Gianandrea Noseda among the most important conductors of our time.
Music Director of Teatro Regio in Turin, Chief Conductor of the  BBC Philharmonic in Manchester and Chief Guest Conductor of the Israel Philharmonic, he also serves as Artistic Director of the Stresa Festival since 2001. To underline his relationship with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, he has been recently appointed as “Victor De Sabata Guest Conductor Chair”. Gianandrea Noseda became the first foreign Principal Guest Conductor at the  Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg in 1997 and has been the Principal Guest Conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic and of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai.
Born in Milan, Gianandrea Noseda has appeared all over the world with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Chicago Symphony and the Boston Symphony, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, the Dso Berlin, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre de Paris and the Nhk Symphony Orchestra. During the season 2012/13 he will make his debut with the legendary Cleveland Orchestra.
Gianandrea Noseda has conducted several opera productions at the Teatro Regio, Turin including new productions of Salome directed by Robert Carsen, Massenet’s Thaïs (the Dvd has been released by Arthaus), Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades and Verdi’s La traviata directed by Laurent Pelly and Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov directed by Andrei Konchalovsky (the Hd recording will be released in Dvd and distributed in movie theatres worldwide). In summer 2010 he has leaded the Teatro Regio forces in the first ever residence of Japan and China; in May 2011 has also toured them in Spain and at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris.
gian072.jpgThe privileged relationship with the Metropolitan Opera started in 2002 Prokofiev’s War and Peace and has continued since with La forza del destino (2006), Un ballo in maschera (2007) and with new productions of Il trovatore (2009) and La traviata (2010). In June 2011 he was on tour in Japan conducting Lucia di Lammermoor.
Gianandrea Noseda’s intense collaboration with the Bbc Philharmonic includes studio recordings, subscription concerts at the Bridgewater Hall, the annual appearance at the Proms in London and an extensive touring activity. Live performances of Beethoven’s complete symphonies from the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester by the Bbc Philharmonic conducted by Gianandrea Noseda in 2005 have attracted the historical figure of 1.4 million download requests in a Bbc trial which was offered as part of Radio 3’s The Beethoven Experience.
Since 2002 Gianandrea Noseda is an exclusive artist of Chandos: his discography includes Prokofiev, Karlowitz, Dvořák, Smetana, Shostakovich, Liszt’s Symphonic works, Rachmaninoff (the operas and the symphonies) Mahler and Bartok. An extensive survey of the music of the Italian composers of the XX century has included Respighi, Dallapiccola, Wolf-Ferrari (Diapason d’or in France) and Casella. He has also recorded for Deutsche Grammophon conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in Anna Netrebko’s debut album and the Teatro Regio Orchestra for a Mozart album featuring Ildebrando D’Arcangelo.
Gianandrea Noseda is very sensitive to the help of the young generation of musicians through the collaboration with youth orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Royal College of Music in London, the National Youth Orchestra of United Kingdom and the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana. In summer 2010 has toured extensively with the European Union Youth Orchestra.
Gianandrea Noseda holds the honour of “Cavaliere Ufficiale al Merito della Repubblica Italiana”.
