Travel is a metaphor for life: moving ever onward, and learning all the way. The idea of travel and discovery has never been far from our minds in the last ten years of the Stresa Festival. In the first five years we took an imaginary trip through Europe, then in the next five we set out on a voyage of introspection inspired by reflections on the times we live in.
All these vast distances were covered in the company of the most impalpable and elusive form of art there is - music, with its colossal emotional impact on everyone willing to yield to it. Our voyage took us to meet all sorts of people from different cultural settings, of all social levels, all political and religious convictions, and all ages. We have had some wonderful encounters and I hope everyone involved holds joyful memories to jot down in their diary of life.
It only remains now for me to say how much I hope the Stresa Festival will carry on traveling so constructively!
