I have always been impressed by storytellers and visionaries, being persons possessing the rare gift of wanting to dream and of wishing to make others dream!
This is a rare and demanding gift, indeed, as it necessitates a big effort of deep thought, introspection and finally communication. Artistic creators belong to this genre of persons: through a laborious creative process (the power of vision) they come to invent wonderful stories which have be told to live (storytelling).
What could look like a process of disassociation from reality and from everyday life actually has its roots deeply set in the concreteness of human life.
There is then an inevitable and miraculous element which is born in those who harbour the wish and are patient enough to draw near to a recount of these stories. It consists of the irresistible need to “think” and move back to everyday grit with a different, possibly altered, outlook.
How much would I wish that there were nowadays many more visionaries and storytellers! This is the bet which the Stresa Festival 2010 would like to make with me and with all those wanting to take part.
