The other venues

Orchestral music concerts remain a must in the Festival’s programming at Stresa Congress Hall, capacious but cosy enough to favour an “intimate” approach to the musical event; along the lake in Stresa the Church SS. Ambrogio and Theodulo in Stresa has become a new venue.
In Stresa there in also e new venue, the Sala Baccarat in the Regina Palace Hotel.

The Rocca Borromeo in Angera and the Castello Visconteo in Vogogna, much loved by tourists from all over the world, become authentic surprises full of charm and intimacy for the Stresa Festival audience.
The Villa Ponti is a 18th century villa situated in the historic centre of Arona, chosen to host intimate concerts, followed by a selected and qualified audience.

 

In Verbania, the Church Madonna di Campagna situated in the town’s industrial centre, brings us back to the 16th century and turns into an exquisite casket for our music.
The historic centre of Belgirate holds the Santa Maria Church or Chiesa Vecchia, in the upper quarter of the town. In the Roman style, this perfect niche decorated with splendid 16th century fresco is the ideal venue for an exclusive Festival concert.

Stresa - Congress Hall

The Congress Hall is situated in the heart of Stresa, few meters from the railway station and from all the most important hotels and restaurants.

Stresa - Church SS. Ambrogio and Theodulo

The Church SS. Ambrogio and Theodulo, in front of the Lake Maggiore, has a Neoclassical façade adorned with two sculptures of angels playing musical instruments and was built in 1790. Inside you can find three altars: one is decorated with a precious painting by Morazzone, while the main one is surrounded by paintings of the XVII Lombard dedicated to St. Ambrose.

The Sala Baccarat, brand new and comfortable venue situated in the Regina Palace Hotel, is very near to Stresa Congress Hall and to the promenade.
It is the location for camera orchestra concerts and also venue for the Midsummer Jazz Concerts in case of bad weather.

Verbania - Church Madonna di Campagna

Built on the site of an ancient Romanic church, whose bell tower still remains, the Renaissance sanctuary Church Madonna di Campagna rises very close Pallanza old town centre. The nave and the two side aisles are wonderfully decorated with fresco painting. It has been named national monument.

Belgirate - Chiesa Vecchia

The Romanic church Santa Maria or Chiesa Vecchia (Old Church), wonderfully decorated with frescos of the XVIth century, rises on the top of a slope facing the lake, and it is part of Belgirate old town centre, with its typical labyrinth of narrow paths and beautiful glimpses of gardens.

 You can only reach the Chiesa Vecchia by climbing a short pebble staircase.

Arona - Villa Ponti

Villa Ponti is a splendid 18th-century villa, located in the old town centre of Arona, not far from the lakefront. The garden boasts a fountain inspired by baroque models encircled by beech trees and silver cedars while magnolias and typical lacustrine vegetation surrounds the house. 
Near the Villa you can find shops, bars and restaurants.

Vogogna - Castello Visconteo

The Castello Visconteo in Vogogna, built in the middle of XIV century, has a round tower which overlooks the old village. The castle was recently renovated, its charming medieval allatus being preserved.
The concert is in the evocative castle courtyard; in case of bad weather it is held in the small hall on the second floor.

 You can only reach the Castello Visconteo by climbing a pebble staircase.

It is an open-air venue.

Angera - Rocca Borromeo

The Rocca Borromeo (Castle) of Angera, an unusual example of a completely preserved medieval fortified building, rises on a spur of calcareous rock that has always dominated the southern part of Lake Maggiore. This imposing construction houses items that bear important witness to local history, which is revisited thanks to the marvellous cycle of frescoes of theSala della Giustizia (Justice Hall) dating from the end of the 13th century.

 You can only reach the Sala della Giustizia by climbing two flights of stairs.
