In 1944, while Pier Paolo Pasolini was fighting his own Resistance ‘with the arms of poetry’ his brother Guido, three years younger, joined the Brigata Osoppo partisans in the mountains of Friule, and was killed by the communist Gruppi di azione patriottica (GAPs) in the massacre at Porzûs. This tragedy marked Pier Paolo deeply for ever, on the levels of his affections and politics and marked the start of that suffered process of political maturation that led him to become a militant in the Communist Party.
Between these two periods, Pasolini wrote a drama he never wanted to publish: I Turcs tal Friùl, which contains the finest page he dedicated to Guido…except that the one act was written in 1944, a year before his brother died.
The Friuli Venezia Giulia Choir was formed in January 2001, and in its 20-plus years can boast more than 400 concerts, in a hundred or so different productions.   It is managed flexibly and the singers come from all the Italian regions.  It is one of the most active and versatile groupings in the cultural panorama.
