Enrico Zanisi
Alessandro Lanzoni
Variations on Petrouchka
Enrico Zanisi and Alessandro Lanzoni received a classical music training and earned piano diplomas at the Frosinone music school and in Florence. It didn’t take long, though, for their jazz vocation to surface, and their talent for improvisation soon gave worthwhile results. In 2012 Zanisi received the Top Jazz award for Best New Talent, issued by the historical magazine Musica Jazz, then in 2014 he was awarded the Premio Siae for creativity. Then in 2013 Lanzoni received the Musica Jazz prize. The two pianists have both worked with many well-known names: to list some — Sheila Jordan, David Liebman, Andy Sheppard, Francesco Cafiso, Roberta Gambarini (Zanisi); Lee Konitz, Enrico Rava, Jeff Ballard, Larry Granadier, Ambrose Akinmusire, Fabrizio Bosso, Gianni Basso, Renato Sellani, Tiziana Ghiglioni (Lanzoni).
This evening’s program combines original compositions with re-elaborations of some of Stravinsky’s themes.
