“I believe you are the example of a musician of the 21st century. You represent the direction music must take to evolve. On one hand, you respect the precious patrimony of classic works […] and on the other you flow along with the discoveries of contemporary [popular] music and its creative elements, not only with improvisation, but also interpretation.” This was Yehudi Menuhin’s flattering summary of the spirit and mastery of the virtuoso violinist Gilles Apap, here at the Festival with the accordionist Myriam Lafargue.
With his unique approach to music, Gilles Apap’s program runs through the classic repertory to jazz and folk music from all over the world, and the resulting once-only performance links the borders between different musical styles. This evening they offer violin items from famous composers, such as Bach, Sarasate, and Kreisler, as far as Piazzolla, with a mix of traditional Breton, Irish, and Bulgarian music.
If the weather is bad the event will be moved at the Stresa Convention Centre.
