C. SAINT-SAËNS, Concerto per violoncello n. 1 in la min. op. 33
J. BRAHMS, Sinfonia n. 1 in do min. op. 68

On 27 August 1962 the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala, with Nino Sanzogno conducting, inaugurated the first edition of the concert season known as the Settimane Musicali di Stresa. On August 27 this year Gianandrea Noseda, after 20 unforgettable years as artistic director of the Festival, will once again mark the date, conducting the Filarmonica della Scala in Brahms’ Symphony No. 1, just like on the program 60 editions past. With this symbolic gesture he passes the baton to the new artistic director, Mario Brunello, who will play the cello solo in Camille Saint-Saëns’ Concerto no. 1.
These two great interpreters and a renowned orchestra await the public in a celebration evening ‘not to be missed’ on the Italian concert scene, with this program offering two masterpieces of the second half ot the 19th century.
