Eight cello players, soloists, chamber music and concert performers, combine their energy and their dreams, inventing original, surprising programs. Ô-Celli is a human adventure set in motion by Sébastien Walnier and Alexandre Beauvoir, who have gathered around them orchestral and chamber music cellists who share their passion for this instrument.
To celebrate their tenth anniversary, the ensemble presents a program of music from America, a country offering a broad mix of styles and influences.  Works by well-known masters alternate during the evening: from George Gershwin to the composer Florence Price – the first Afro-American woman to be recognised as a composer and hear her music played by prestigious orchestras, in programs from Aaron Copland to Leonard Bernstein. Tonight’s program includes music from Belgium and pieces by Harold Noben, a composer who has followed Ô-Celli from its early days, and is totally familiar with this unusual formation.
