Marking the 50th anniversary of the death of Igor Stravinsky, Stresa Festival presents an exclusive ballet program accompanied by the great Russian composer‘s music. His own transcriptions of three well-known works, the Suite italienne no. 2, from Pulcinella, Petrushka and Le sacre de Printemps, will be played on the piano by Beatrice Rana and Massimo Spada, with the violinist Andrea Obiso. On stage will be some authentic stars of contemporary ballet, Sasha Riva and Simone Repele, Sergio Bernal and Miriam Mendoza, from the Spanish National Ballet company, and Davide Dato from the Vienna Opera.
This production of Petrushka boasts original chreography by Sergio Bernal, and is a world premiére, created for Stresa Festival. The costumes are inspired by those historically designed for the very first performance – yet another interesting reason not to miss this important international evening!
