TRAVIATA
G. VERDI, La Traviata
Musica a Palazzo is a project that reimagines opera in this way: the traditional theater setting is replaced by a stage specifically designed for the occasion, and the originality of the direction lies in the interaction between singers, instrumentalists, and audience, eliminating all distance and offering spectators the emotion of experiencing the opera from within. This sensation is enhanced by the skillful use of a fully immersive performance space, which for the Festival is created open air on Isola dei Pescatori. Here, the main characters of the opera—Violetta Valéry, Alfredo Germont, and Giorgio Germont—are accompanied by a trio consisting of violin, cello, and piano. Musica a Palazzo adheres to the “contemporary indications” envisioned by Verdi in the first performance (which caused a scandal at the time for its bold realism): the voices of the performers, so intimately close, engage the audience through the emotional intensity of the singing.ARTISTS
