Luxembourgish pianist and composer Francesco Tristano performs in a recital that alternates music by Johann Sebastian Bach with some of his own compositions incorporating electronics. Tristano appears in the world’s leading concert halls, performing both Baroque and contemporary repertoire; he also records dance tracks for electronic music labels and creates albums intertwined with his personal stories, in which he explores the sensitivity and timbral richness of the piano.
His simultaneous passion for the pure sounds of Bach and the rhythmic pulse of techno, as well as his interest in the complex exploration of noise, effects, and timbres by composers such as Cage and Ligeti, combined with his drive to explore his own imagination, make him a highly compelling and contemporary artist. In 2023, he founded his own label, intothefuture, launching an ambitious and long-term project: the recording of Bach’s complete keyboard works. At the same time, he continues to pursue his explorations in electronic music, elements of which will also be heard during this concert.
