LA VIE DEVANT SOI
Due to forecasted bad weather, the 25 July concert La vie devant soi with Renaud Garcia-Fons has been moved from Isola Bella to the Stresa Festival Hall (Palazzo dei Congressi).
The Piazzale delle Armi at Palazzo Borromeo, Isola Bella, provides the setting for the trio led by double bassist Renaud Garcia-Fons, featuring David Venitucci on accordion and Stephan Caracci on vibraphone and drums.
Dubbed “the Paganini of the double bass”, Garcia-Fons famously added a fifth string to his instrument, extending its possibilities and reimagining it not merely for accompaniment, but as a leading improvisational voice within the ensemble. Through a masterful blend of arco and pizzicato techniques, he has achieved an unprecedented level of virtuosity, collaborating with many of the most prominent jazz musicians across Europe and the United States. His musical inspirations are rooted as much in Flamenco tradition as in the music of the Mediterranean and the Orient.
The concert, entitled La vie devant soi, is a chronological and poetic journey through Paris; it explores acoustic chamber music, merging influences from the late 19th-century French school (Satie, Debussy) with the essence of Parisian jazz.
