RAPHAEL GUALAZZI TRIO

Raphael Gualazzi is an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, pianist, composer, and producer, also celebrated for his singular ability to fuse the traditions of diverse musical cultures.Following his classical training at theConservatorio, he turned his focus to experimenting with genres such as jazz, blues, stride piano, soul, and pop-simultaneously honouring and transcending these various styles.In 2011, he triumphed at the Sanremo Festival in the ‘Newcomers’ category with the song Follia d’Amore, securing first place alongside the Mia Martini Critics’ Award, the Press Room Award, and the Asso musica Award for best live performance. He went onto secure second place at the Eurovision Song Contest later that year. Gualazzi has since returned to the Sanremo Ariston stage on three further occasions to great critical and public acclaim, notably finishing second in 2014 withLiberi o no.At Stresa, he is joined by Anders Ulrich on double bass and Gianluca Nanni on drums. The programme ranges from the rich inspirations of the African-American repertoire to divertissements on celebrated themes from the Italian song and operatic traditions, alongside a selection of Gualazzi’s own works that chart his musical evolution. The evening also features evocative reinterpretations of iconic scores penned by Italy’s greatest cinematic composers.
