THE FANTASTIC FIVE

Leonard Bernstein founded the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan, where the woodwind musicians Pacific Quintet first met in 2017. Inspired by their shared passion for music, intercultural exchange and mutual respect, the five musicians decided to bring Bernstein’s spirit to Europe. In Berlin they founded the Pacific Quintet. Tolerance and inclusion are the foundations of the quintet’s work, which includes members from different countries.
Alongside West Side Story and the Barber of Seville, the program includes Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin and Fazil Say’s composition. Fuga Libera received praise from the famous Turkish pianist and composer who commented on the quintet’s recording: «The opera is executed magnificently by five young virtuous individuals. The band is fed and inspired by different cultures; I think they understand the part very well and play it with pleasure. In doing so, everyone will enjoy listening to it».
