SIMONE LOCARNI TRIO

This evening’s appointment is with the Simone Locarni Trio, with Simone Locarni, piano, Yuri Goloubev, bass, and Klaus Gesing, sax soprano and bass clarinet.
Simone Locarni, born in Verbania, started studying the piano when he was six years old.  His classical music studies took him to the Milan Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi. Later he moved to jazz, in a group with Ramberto Ciammarughi, Franco D’Andrea and Umberto Petrin. In 2016 he started performing in the main Italian jazz festivals alongside Italian and international artistes, and in 2018, when he was only 19, he played as a guest of the Italian Jazz Days in New York, thanks to a grant from the La Spezia international Festival. Also in 2018 his first record came out – Playin’ Tenco. Then in 2021 his second solo record Ten Stops was published, in which he played together with Andrea Dulbecco, Bebo Ferra and Riccardo Fioravanti. In August 2022 he won the Spoleto Europe Jazz Award as the Best European Jazz Talent. This was followed in December by a Special Mention from Tomorrow’s Jazz, an award dedicated to young Italian jazz talent, promoted by Veneto Jazz and the Ministry of Culture, “for his approach to composing and improvisation”.
