On Sunday 21 July in Stresa Festival Hall, we shall be pleased to see a German group that has accepted our invitation to come back to Stresa. This group of young musicians performs in an average of 80 years a year, in Europe, America, Asia and Africa. The Jazzrausch Bigband is much in demand throughout the world.
Founded by the trumpeter Roman Sladek in 2014 with companions who had also studied at the Munich university and theater university, culture is their by-word. Their concerts have their own way of combining big band techno with jazz, classical and electronic music. As the house band of the Harry Klein techno club in Munich, the Elbphilharmonie or jazz festivals in Nairobi, New York and Shanghai, the Jazzrausch Bigband thrills its public with its impressive presence on stage and its joy when playing.
Their programme Bruckner’s Breakdown – marking the bicentenary of the great Austrian composer’s birth – sends a cloudburst of orchestral sound and groove dubstep spreading through the concert hall and into the Festival boxes.
For the arrangements of Leonhard Kuhn in particular, and his new compositions, the group has expanded, adding a horn, percussion, bassoon, and three strings. The concert becomes a melting pot of today’s music.
