CORELLI, BACH & HÄNDEL

Born in Italy, Teodoro Baù started studying the viola da gamba when he was still young, and earned his diploma with top marks and special mention at the Verona Conservatorio. He went on to study at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Paolo Pandolfo and at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Vittorio Ghielmi.
In 2021 he won first prize and the Outhere prize at the MA Festival in Bruges and the first prize in the Concorso 6. Bach-Abel in Köthen in 2015. 
The harpsichord player, organist and conductor Andrea Buccarella is one of the most widely appreciated musicians and specialists in early music of his generation. In 2018 he was awarded First Prize in the International harpsichord contest in Bruges and the Outhere prize.
His intense concert schedules have taken him to important festivals and concert halls in Europe, the United States, Korea and Japan, as a soloist on the harpsichord, organ and fortepiano, and as a conductor.
The programme this evening centers on Arcangelo Corelli, as a composer and virtuoso violinist who lived and built his career in Rome, earning widespread international fame. The four Sonate à violino e violone o cimbalo op. 5 will be played in a transcription for viola da gamba, representing Correlli’s style in his mature phase, and offer the interpreter an ample range of expressive possibilities.
